Axial Variable Inlet Vanes (Axial VIV)
Variable inlet vanes are an efficient way to control the airflow. The vanes induce a swirl in the flow entering the fan wheel. The induced swirl is in the same rotation direction as the fan wheel rotation. This swirl allows the flow to be reduced while keeping the power consumption to a minimum.
The axial variable inlet vanes are installed directly at the fan inlet, in between the fan housing and the fan inlet box.
Conical Variable Inlet Vanes (Conical VIV)
The conical variable inlet vanes have the same benefits and operating characteristics as the axial variable inlet vanes. However, it is installed inside the fan inlet box, reducing the distance between bearings and allowing a smaller fan shaft compared to axial VIVs.
